Heapey Night Syndicate

Includes Heapey Reservoirs 1,2 and 3 along with Fan Lodge

General Rules

  1. Use of 3 rods allowed on Heapey Numbers 2 and 3.  Fan Lodge and Heapey Number 1  is  2 rods only
  2. Micro barb hooks are permitted
  3. No leadcore coated braided hook lengths are allowed
  4. All rubbish to be taken home, no human waste to be left. And any rubbish left will result in an instant ban from syndicate and all Wigan DAA waters. You are responsible for all litter in and around your swim.
  5. To remain respectful and responsible to all people and wildlife around you
  6. All members must carry their membership cards and be able to produce them on request for any bailiff/committee member. NO membership card – no fishing
  7. NO transferring of fish unless authorised by a committee member
  8. No fishing from boats is permitted
  9. Bait boats are permitted however you must respect other anglers pegs
  10. To avoid transfer of disease all nets, mats and sundry items must be bone dry before entering the site.
  11. No sacking of fish in daylight hours especially in summer months due to lower oxygen levels in the water
  12. Park in designated parking area’s only and ensure that all gates are closed behind you. On Heapey 2 car park you must lock the gate behind you. Any member found to be sharing the code with non members will have their Syndicate licence revoked. No2 car park to be locked on entry behind you when night fishing and closest angler to unlock the gate at sunrise.
  13. Max 5mph on road leading to all carparks
  14. All fish caught on Heapey 2 and 3 must be photographed and weighed and put on the private Facebook syndicate page so all fish can be documented to establish stocking levels  and ongoing fish welfare.
  15. Strictly no alcohol on the bank
  16. All meat, dog food and cat foods are banned.
  17. No nuts of any sort/variety
  18. Syndicate members are allowed to fish upto 48 hrs on Heapey 1 and Fan Lodge however when Night fishing on Numbers 2 and 3 then you are allowed to fish upto 72hrs.
  19. Different rules may apply for Fan Lodge in relation to bait limits and bans and as such All Syndicate members are reminded to read rules that are annually updated in the membership card.

Fish Welfare

  1. Please use the best unhooking mat you can afford as fish safety is paramount.
  2. Once netted, leave them in the net in the water, making sure the line in the net is slack. Ask a friend or nearest angler to help.
  3. Wet your unhooking mat and weigh sling. Zero the scales with the sling, have your camera and everything ready including fish care ointment/antiseptic.
  4. Lift the fish out of the water and onto the mat making sure the line is slack in the net and the fins are flat to the fish.
  5. Carefully unhook the fish and get it out of the net. Take your photos now, please do not weigh the fish before photos; there is no point in double handling any fish.
  6. Check the fish for any damage and treat with fish care products if necessary. Place the fish in the wet sling and weigh it now.
  7. Return the fish to the lake in a reasonable depth, carrying it in the sling and in a safe and secure manner.
  8. Always have wet hands when handling fish and never drop fish into weigh net/ or back into water.
  9. Fish are very expensive to replace, safeguard your fishing stock at all times and treat all fish stock with respect regardless of size.
  10. All anglers must be in possession of scales, adequate weigh slings, mats and carp care treatment as fish care is paramount. Minimum 42 inch carp landing net

If you see anyone with a fish out of the water for more than a few minutes please inform a bailiff.

Conduct

Wigan DAA Committee reserve the right to withdraw or suspend  membership of any member at  their discretion and in that event all rights of the former permit holder shall cease and no monies shall be paid.

Members  sharing information on any social media platform or other publication relating to the Syndicate should be mindful that if the Wigan DAA Committee deem the content to be in appropriate they will have their membership revoked with immediate effect.

Only syndicate members are allowed to night fish Heapey number 2 and 3

All decisions made by the Wigan DAA committee are final and not subject to appeal

Rules are subject to change as conditions dictate. But we would endeavour to inform all members of any particular rule changes

Membership runs from Jan 1st – Dec 31st

Do not damage fences, trees No fires, swimming or loud music.

Under NO circumstances must any angler alter any peg in any shape or form without the express permission of a syndicate committee member

ALL fish caught in Heapey 2 and 3 MUST be photographed when caught and weighed  so we can catalogue our fish stocks and sizes. Wigan DAA Committee  have made a commitment to annually stock Heapey 2 and ALL syndicate members will have an opportunity to contribute to the size of the fish we stock this will be done via a poll on the private Facebook page . If you do not have access to facebook then please send the photos to one of the Syndicate bailiffs so they can submit them onto facebook.

 

The cost of syndicate permit is £  TBC     per member and includes a Wigan DAA permit and gives exclusive rights to Night fish Heapey 2 and 3

(this also entitles you to fish all Wigan DAA waters and night fish Fan Lodge and Heapey Number 1

2 X passport photos are required also.

In the first instance any issues relating to your membership must be reported to a Syndicate committee member. If you are not satisfied with their response then you should contact the Association Secretary and Head Bailiff.

Booking on to night Fish

To book on you must have to book on through the syndicate Facebook page ad say what peg you are on and what duration you intend to fish  . If you change pegs mid-session you must also repeat the same process on what peg you have moved too. This is to avoid any misunderstandings / or if an issue arises we know what angler is where!

DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND WEATHER VARIATIONS THAT COULD AFFECT THE FISHERY, WHICH WE HAVE NO CONTROL OF, THE FOLLOWING CONDITION HAS BEEN ADDED. IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT OF THE FOLLOWING THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS OF MONIES PAID DUE TO WATER ABSTRACTION, FISH DEATHS, RESTRICTED ACCESS AND UNSAFE BANKS.IN THE EVENT THE GOVERNMENT INTRODUCE LEGISLATION TEMPORARY STOPPING ANGLING THEN NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN TO COMPENSATE FOR LACK OF OPPORTUNITY TO FISH.
